A Farmer damaged all of her eggs, she goes to her insurance provider to see how much she will be reimbursed but cannot recall how many eggs she began with. She remembers that when she was storing them they did not fit evenly into groups of twos, threes, fours, fives, or sixes. In each instance one was left over. The eggs did in fact fit evenly into groups of seven. With that information, what can we imply about how many eggs she began with?
Question is looking for:
A multiple of 7, that when divided by 2 ,3 ,4, 5, and 6 has a remainder of one.
The first thing our group did was agree that the problem was looking for a number divisible by 7, but not divisible by 2 ,3 ,4, 5, and 6. Initially I proposed the answer would be 49. This makes sense, but when divided by 4 it has a remainder larger than one.
